What type of edible plant should I grow?
To be honest, literally anything that is edible, including leafy greens, microgreens, tubers etc. But if you’re up for the challenge, try vying for our prizes. You’ll not regret it 🙂 You can also choose to grow your edible plant from seeds or cuttings.
Where can I get seeds or cuttings (especially during this CB period)?
Well, you can either get them at supermarkets, order them online, or even try marketplaces like Carousell. Some useful sites to check out:
Fairprice – https://www.fairprice.com.sg/category/garden-accessories
World Farm – https://www.huahng.com.sg/
RedMart – https://redmart.lazada.sg
For cuttings, try your hand at re-growing fresh vegetables and herbs that you have bought from markets/supermarkets!
What equipment do I need to start growing?
Don’t worry if you don’t have plant pots at home. You can always make one yourself with common items such as plastic bottles and containers. Check out this link as an example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OBsPIpwdHNI Stay tuned for the videos we’ll be posting on our IG too!
What type of growing medium should I use?
You may use soil, soil-less mix or even grow your plants hydroponically. Any method to grow healthy edible plants are more than welcomed 🙂
How much do I need to care for my plant?
It really depends on how healthy you want your plant to be. On top of watering them and adding fertilizers, you might want to consider showing them some Tender Loving Care (TLC) – by singing them a song, telling them they’re doing well, or even kissing them goodnight – to keep them happy and disease-free!
Can I participate in this contest if I’m not based in Singapore?
Yes, you can! However, only those based in Singapore can qualify for our prizes at the moment. Nonetheless, try your hand at growing edible plants that are most suited to your climate, and don’t forget to share your process with us!
